Safety Tips
Effective date: 18 March 2026 · Last updated: 18 March 2026
Your safety is our top priority. While we work hard to keep the Amour community safe through identity verification, content moderation, and our Trust & Safety team, there are also steps you can take to protect yourself when connecting with new people.
Protecting Your Profile
Verify Your Identity
Amour offers identity verification to help confirm that the person behind a profile is who they say they are. Verified profiles display a verification badge, giving other members greater confidence when connecting with you.
You can verify your identity from your Profile tab under Safety → ID Verification.
Be Thoughtful About What You Share
Your Amour profile is visible to other members. Consider what personal information you include:
- Avoid sharing your full name, home address, workplace, or daily routine in your profile or early conversations.
- Be cautious about sharing photos that reveal identifying locations, such as your home, office, or regular hangout spots.
- Do not share financial information, government IDs, or passwords with anyone on the platform.
Communicating Safely
Keep Conversations on Amour
We recommend keeping your conversations within the Amour app, especially in the early stages of getting to know someone. Our platform has safety features, including the ability to report and block users, that are not available on other messaging platforms.
Trust Your Instincts
If something feels off about a conversation or a person's behaviour, trust your instincts. You are never obligated to continue a conversation, share personal information, or meet someone in person.
Watch for Warning Signs
Be cautious of members who:
- Ask for money, gifts, or financial assistance.
- Pressure you to move conversations off the app immediately.
- Refuse to share photos or video chat before meeting.
- Share inconsistent stories about themselves.
- Become aggressive or disrespectful when you set boundaries.
If you encounter any of these behaviours, we encourage you to report the profile so our team can investigate.
Meeting in Person
Meet in a Public Place
For your first meeting, always choose a well-lit, public location such as a cafe, restaurant, or park. Avoid meeting at a private residence or an isolated area.
Tell Someone You Trust
Before meeting someone from Amour, share the following details with a trusted friend or family member:
- Who you are meeting (their Amour profile name).
- Where you are meeting.
- What time you expect to be back.
Consider arranging a check-in call or message during or after the meeting.
Arrange Your Own Transport
Travel to and from the meeting independently. Do not rely on the other person for transport, especially for the first few meetings. This ensures you can leave whenever you feel uncomfortable.
Stay Sober and Alert
Avoid consuming excessive alcohol or other substances when meeting someone for the first time. Staying alert helps you make sound judgements about your safety.
Do Not Leave Personal Belongings Unattended
Keep your phone, bag, and other personal items with you at all times. Do not leave your drink unattended.
Protecting Your Financial Information
Never Send Money
Never send money or share financial details with someone you have met on Amour, regardless of the reason they give. Common scam tactics include fabricating emergencies, investment opportunities, or travel expenses.
Be Wary of Links
Do not click on links sent by other members, especially links to external websites, payment portals, or apps. These may be phishing attempts designed to steal your personal information.
