How Do I Block Someone?
Effective date: 18 March 2026 · Last updated: 18 March 2026
If someone on Amour is making you uncomfortable or you simply do not wish to interact with them, you can block them at any time. Blocking is immediate and the other person will not be notified.
What Happens When I Block Someone?
When you block a person on Amour:
- They will not be able to see your profile in discovery or anywhere else on the app.
- They will not be able to message you, and any existing conversation will become inaccessible to both of you.
- They will not be notified that you blocked them.
- You will not see their profile in your discovery feed, matches, or conversations.
Blocking From Discovery
If you see a profile during discovery that you would like to block:
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) on the profile card.
- Tap Block.
- A confirmation message will appear: “Block [name]? They won't be able to see your profile or message you. They won't be notified.”
- Tap Block to confirm, or Cancel to go back.
Once confirmed, the profile will be removed from your discovery feed and you will move on to the next profile.
Blocking From a Conversation
If you are in a conversation and wish to block the other person:
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) in the chat header.
- Tap Block User.
- You will see the same confirmation message asking you to confirm.
- Tap Block to confirm.
The conversation will become inaccessible to both you and the blocked person.
Viewing Your Blocked Profiles
You can see a list of all the profiles you have blocked:
- Go to your Profile tab.
- Tap the Safety section.
- Under Verification & Privacy, tap Block List.
Here you will see all blocked profiles along with the reason they were blocked (either “Manually blocked by you” or “Blocked by reporting the user”).
Can I Unblock Someone?
It depends on how the person was blocked:
- Manually blocked profiles — You can unblock them by visiting your Block List and tapping the Unblock button next to their name. Once unblocked, they will be able to see your profile and message you again. However, your previous conversation history will not be restored.
- Profiles blocked through a report — If you blocked someone by reporting them, you cannot unblock them. This is a safety measure to ensure that reported users do not regain access to the person who reported them. The Unblock button will not appear for these profiles.
Blocking vs. Reporting
Blocking and reporting serve different purposes:
| Action | What It Does | Reversible? |
|---|---|---|
| Block | Prevents the other person from seeing your profile or messaging you. No action is taken against their account. | Yes (if manually blocked) |
| Report | Sends a report to our Trust & Safety team for review. The person is also automatically blocked. | No |
